## Why does nobody find our business through our website?

Strangers find a website only when its pages match what they search for or ask an AI assistant. Most B2B sites are organised around the firm: about us, our services, our team. Buyers search for their problem, a price, a comparison or a place. If no page answers those, the only visitors are people who already know the company name.

Ask any client how they found you and the answer is a name: a former colleague, an accountant, an old client. The website has never once been the answer. It is a brochure that happens to be online.

## Why strangers never arrive

### Your only visitors already know you

Look at the searches that bring traffic and most will be your company name. Those people were referred. The site confirms a decision somebody else started. It finds nobody.

### The pages are about you

Nobody types 'our services' into Google. They type what is going wrong, what it costs to fix, and who does it near them. Five pages about the firm and none about those questions gives a search engine nothing to match.

### Visitors are given nothing to do

A contact form is a big ask for someone three weeks into their research. With no smaller step on offer, they leave. You never learn they were there.

## What it is costing you

Referrals arrive when they arrive, and you cannot order more. So the cost is growth you cannot plan. Divide the revenue you want to add next year by your average client value: that is the clients you need. Subtract what referrals delivered last year. For example, £600,000 of growth at £15,000 a client is 40 clients. If referrals bring 25, the other 15 have to come from somewhere.

## Check it yourself in ten minutes

Ignore total visitor numbers. You want evidence that a stranger could find you.

1. In Google Search Console, list the top 20 searches that led to your site. Cross out any containing your company name.
2. Write the three questions a buyer asks before they know any supplier's name. Put each to Google and to ChatGPT.
3. Go through a year of enquiry form submissions. Mark each as someone you already knew or a stranger.
4. Count the pages that answer a buyer's question against the pages that describe your firm.

## What we would do in the first 90 days

The aim is a site that strangers with the right problem can find.

- **Week 1:** We agree the 40 to 150 questions your buyers ask and begin putting them to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google each week, recording who is named. You see where you are absent.
- **Weeks 2 to 8:** We build a page for each question that matters: question as heading, answer first, facts marked up, with proof and one next step on every page.
- **Weeks 9 to 13:** Weekly dated improvements from search data and what sales hears. New questions get new pages.

This is Website That Sells: build £5,000 to £10,000, run from £999 a month, live in 4 to 8 weeks, all excluding VAT.

## Questions founders ask

### We are a referral business. Does the website matter?

It matters to the referrals too. Someone recommended to you will look at the site before replying, so it is already part of every sale. Whether to invest in being found by strangers depends on whether referrals alone will take you to the size you want.

### What does it cost?

Website That Sells is £5,000 to £10,000 to build and from £999 a month to run, plus VAT. The first step costs nothing: a 30-minute Growth Review with a founder, then three fixes in writing. For comparison, the 2026 UK median salary for a content and search manager is £42,055.

### What if our buyers do not search online for what we sell?

Some do not, and we would rather say so in the Growth Review than sell you a website. Where every deal comes through a tender list or a personal introduction, researched outreach is usually the better spend. Search Console will show whether anyone is looking.
