You do this for clients.Nobody does it for you.

Agencies and consultancies are the cobbler's children. Client work always wins, so your own site, thinking and new business get done in the gaps. We run them as a client account, with a deadline. Ross, one of our founders, founded Rawnet, so the excuses are familiar.

The short answer

How do agencies and consultancies win new clients without relying on the founder?

Most agencies and consultancies grow through the founder's network, referrals and the occasional pitch. That stalls when the network is exhausted. Firms that keep growing pick a clear specialism, publish their thinking and results under named people, and run steady, researched outreach instead of bursts between projects. Buyers shortlist firms that appear to have solved their exact problem before.

Your buyers

How your buyers choose now.

A marketing director or CEO choosing an agency or consultancy usually has three names before anyone is invited to pitch. Those names come from people they trust, from work they have noticed, and increasingly from asking an AI assistant who is good at one particular thing.

They ask who did that piece of work

Buyers notice a rebrand, a campaign, a turnaround, and ask who was behind it. If your name is not attached to your best work anywhere public, the credit goes nowhere and so does the enquiry.

They judge your thinking before your credentials

Anyone can list services. Buyers read an article or watch a talk to see whether the people are sharp and hold a point of view. For a consultancy, published thinking is the product sample. Most keep theirs in decks only clients see.

They look at who they will actually get

Every buyer has been sold to by the founder and handed to a junior. So they look up the team on LinkedIn, check how long people stay, and look for named leads on case studies. Show who does the work.

Pipeline That Fills ↗

New business that does not stop when a big project lands: researched approaches every month, paid per qualified meeting held.

Questions founders ask

The short answers.

We are an agency. Should we not be able to do this ourselves?

You are able to. You will not, because client work pays this month and your own marketing pays next year, so it loses every scheduling argument. Skill is not the gap. Priority is. An outside team has your firm as its client, with a deadline.

Will content written by someone else sound like us?

It starts with a 30-minute interview with your people each month, so the opinions, examples and turns of phrase are theirs. We shape that into three expert pieces. If you have a strong house voice, month one is when we learn it, and you will be a harder editor than most. That is fine.

Do you compete with us?

If you sell websites, PR or outreach to founder-led B2B firms, then in part, yes, and we should both say so in the Growth Review. Plenty of agencies and consultancies sell something else: brand, creative, strategy, technology, change. For them we are simply a supplier.

Thirty minutes, and three fixes.

A founder checks your site, two competitors and what Google and ChatGPT say about all three before the call. You leave with three fixes in writing.
